Licence to operate a forklift truck

Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck is the training accreditation and licence required to legally operate a forklift truck.

We have specifically designed this course to be delivered either at our training facilities in Brisbane and Townsville or onsite. At all times we work with our clients to align with their operations, procedures and equipment to create the most effective and efficient training experience.

The 3-day Forklift Licence course provides students with the skills to safely operate a forklift in the workplace.

The Forklift Truck program is made up of the following nationally accredited units of competency:

  • TLILIC0003 – Licence to operate a forklift truck

Note, we cap the number of students in the course to a maximum of 6 to ensure there is sufficient time on the forklift for each student.

Course Details

Our Forklift Licence course will teach students how to safely plan the forklift work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.

Our Forklift Truck training course is based on the requirement of the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk.

Licence to Operate a Non-Slewing Crane course topics include:

  • WHS legislation
  • Risks and Hazards
  • General inspection and preparation of work site requirements
  • PPE
  • Set up crane
  • Conduct routine checks
  • Transfer load
  • Travel crane
  • Carry out multiple crane lifts
  • Carry out operator maintenance
  • Shut down and secure crane

Training will be conducted by one of our experienced high risk trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

WorkSafe Connect has specifically designed this course to be offered at either our Brisbane or Townsville training facilities or onsite and we work with our clients to align with their operations, procedures and equipment to create the most effective and efficient training experience.

Students must also provide three items of original identity evidence. A copy of each must be retained by WorkSafe Connect, excepting a financial institution debit/credit card (where a record is kept that the original was sighted but card numbers are not retained on file).

Most students bring their drivers licence, Medicare card and a credit / debit card with them on the day which satisfies the identity requirements.

To complete the course, students must successfully complete all assessments which are aligned with the national unit of competency.

All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency:

  • TLILIC0003 – Licence to operate a forklift truck

Students will also be provided with an electronic 'Candidate Assessment Summary' (CAS) to apply for the High-Risk Licence through Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

Please note there is an additional fee charged by WHSQ to apply for the licence.
