WorkSafe Connect’s First Aid Training course applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

WorkSafe Connect has been delivering leading workplace health and safety focused programs for over 15 years and is one of Queensland’s leading suppliers of Provide Frist Aid training.

Our 1-day training course is designed to ensure students have the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.

The program is made up of the following nationally accredited units of competency:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID009 – Provide CPR

Course Details

Key areas covered by this course include:

  • Follow DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines
  • Respond appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
  • Manage the unconscious breathing casualty
  • Follow single rescue procedure, including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
  • Followed the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Respond to at least two simulated first aid scenarios contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting
  • State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures
  • Requirements for currency of skill and knowledge
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations
  • How to conduct a visual and verbal assessment of the casualty
  • Principles and procedures for first aid management
  • Considerations in provision of first aid for specified conditions

Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

  • Face to Face – Public Courses (Brisbane and Townsville)
  • Face to Face – Onsite (at your site / workplace)

To complete the course, students must successfully complete all assessments which are aligned with the national unit of competency.

All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

You may be eligible to receive CSQ funding for this course if you work in the building & construction industry and permanently work in Queensland.

If eligible:

  • Employed or unemployed workers receive $108.00 in funding, which means an out of pocket expense of $87.00
  • For apprentices & trainees, the course is fully subsidised with no out of pocket expense
