WorkSafe Connect’s First Aid Training course applies to individuals who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Students will learn the fundamentals of common first aid. The 1-day course is aligned with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines and includes practical and theoretical activities to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

The program is made up of the following nationally accredited units of competency:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Course Details

Key areas covered by this course include:

  • Assessing the situation and determining the required response
  • Infection control techniques
  • Basic anatomy and physiology
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Managing casualties until medical assistance arrives
  • Reviewing the incident response

You will also learn responses for:

  • unconscious casualties
  • choking
  • bleeding
  • wound care
  • fractures, sprains and strains
  • burns
  • shock
  • stroke or heart attack
  • anaphylactic reaction
  • asthma
  • venomous bites e.g., by a spider or snake
  • swallowed poisons

Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

  • Face to Face – Public Courses (Brisbane and Townsville)
  • Face to Face – Onsite (at your site / workplace)

To complete the course, students must successfully complete all assessments which are aligned with the national unit of competency.

All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
