Conduct manual tasks safely (manual handling)
Our 5-hour course is designed to ensure that participants have the skills and knowledge required to carry out their work in a safe manner.
WorkSafe Connect has been delivering workplace health and safety related Manual Handling programs for over 15 years and is one of Queensland’s leading suppliers of Manual Handling. The program is made up of the following nationally accredited unit of competency:

Who Should Attend
This course is for workers who perform manual tasks as part of their daily role and need to understand how to complete them safely. It is particularly relevant to construction and building workers, warehousing and logistics staff, transport operators, healthcare, aged care and disability support workers, manufacturing and industrial employees, maintenance and council teams, and office staff who undertake lifting, moving, or repetitive tasks.
CSQ Funding
You may be eligible to receive CSQ funding for this course if you work in the building & construction industry in Queensland.
If eligible, you will receive funding of $69.00, which means an out of pocket expense of $6.00.

Course Description
WorkSafe Connect’s Manual Handling course teaches participants how to lift and move materials manually and/or use basic manual handling equipment in a safe manner.
The training takes participants through both the theory of why we need to follow safe manual handling techniques and the application of demonstrating and practising safe lifting techniques.
Key areas covered during the course include:
- Legislative requirements and best practice approaches to WHS
- Potential hazards in the workplace and the risks/potential risks of certain behaviours, layouts/features
- Reporting mechanisms required for workplace injury and compensation claims
- Rights and obligations of employees and employers regarding WHS
- Significant hazards in the workplace both indoors and outdoors
- Work safely using safe manual handling techniques and equipment
- Comply with the organisation's WHS policies and procedures
- Identify manual tasks involving risk
Implement strategies designed to improve manual handling processes within the workplace
Course Delivery Options
Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

Accreditation
To complete the course, students must successfully complete all assessments which are aligned with the national unit of competency.
All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency:
