MSQ Funding for Queensland Manufacturing Businesses
WorkSafe Connect is a proud recipient of Manufacturing Skills Queensland funding. WorkSafe Connect delivers MSQ-funded short courses in Townsville and Cairns for eligible Queensland manufacturing businesses. Under the MSQ Funded Short Courses program, eligible participants may receive up to $300 towards the cost of an approved course.

About Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ)
Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) is the industry body that supports workforce development across Queensland’s manufacturing sector. MSQ works with industry to identify priority skills needs and provides funding support for targeted training that strengthens safety, capability and productivity within manufacturing businesses.
Eligible Industries
MSQ funding applies to small and medium Queensland manufacturing businesses (fewer than 200 employees), including but not limited to:
- Aerospace and Defence
- General Manufacturing and Engineering
- Food and Beverage
- Chemicals, Hydrocarbon and Refining
- Meat and Seafood Processing
- Textiles, Clothing and Footwear
- Printing and Graphic Arts
- Pulp, Paper and Packaging
- Polymers, Plastic and Rubber
- Pharmaceuticals and Medical Technology
- Renewables and Low Carbon
- Timber and Wood
- Supporting capabilities including Laboratory Operations, Sustainability and Process Plant Operations
MSQ-Supported Courses
Approved courses include:
- Enter & Work in Confined Spaces (RIIWHS202E)
- Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E)
- Operate Elevating Work Platform (RIIHAN301E)
- Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck (TLILC0003)
- Licence to Perform Dogging (CPCCLDG3001)
- Operate a Gantry or Overhead Crane (please contact us - client site course only)
- Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform 11m or More (TLILC005)
- Licence to Operate a Slewing Mobile Crane up to 60 Tonnes (TLILC0023)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID001 / HLTAID010 / HLTAID009)
- CPR (HLTAID009)
- Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel (UETDRMP018)

Funding Overview
Under the MSQ Funded Short Courses program, eligible participants may receive $300 towards the cost of an approved course. Funding supports priority high-risk and safety-related training relevant to manufacturing operations.
Who Is Eligible?
Funding is available to Queensland manufacturing businesses with fewer than 200 employees, operating within the manufacturing industry.
To access funding, each participant must:
- Submit an MSQ Eligibility Application via the online webform prior to course commencement
- Be a permanent Queensland resident
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
MSQ funding is currently available for training delivered through WorkSafe Connect in Townsville and Cairns only. Only one subsidy is available per participant, and eligibility must be confirmed prior to training commencing.
How to Apply
- Complete the MSQ Eligibility Application via the online webform prior to course commencement.
- WorkSafe Connect will review and confirm eligibility.
- Upon approval, the subsidy (up to $300) is applied to the eligible course.
