About the Course
Confined Space Entry is the training accreditation suitable for people who are required to enter and work in a confined space.
WorkSafe Connect has been delivering Confined Space Entry training for over 15 years and is one of Queensland’s leading suppliers of Confined Space and Confined Space Refresher courses.
This 4-hour refresher course has been designed to update competent and experienced students with the latest skills and knowledge required to enter and work in a confined space and how to determine if it is safe for the proposed work.
The program is based on the following nationally accredited unit of competency:
- RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in confined Spaces
Please note that this course does have enrty requirements to ensure that this course is appropriate based on your previous training and expereince. Please refer to the Course Entry Requirments section below.
Who Should Attend
This course is for workers already qualified in confined space entry who need to refresh their competency in line with AS 2865 – Confined Spaces and employer requirements. It is particularly relevant to those in construction, mining, resources, energy, utilities, government, water treatment, manufacturing, processing, industrial services, and shutdown or maintenance crews.
It applies to anyone required to enter, work in, or support confined space activities, including standby roles. Refresher training is required every 2–3 years for RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, while refresher training for MSMWHS217 – Gas Test Atmospheres is not generally required unless mandated by site policy.
WorkSafe Connect requires participants to provide evidence of completing RIIWHS202E within the past three years before enrolling in this refresher course.
Course Description
Our Confined Space Refresher Training is designed to work through and discuss areas including planning to work in a confined space, preparing to work in a confined space, working in a confined space, exiting from a confined space and cleaning up once the task has been completed.

- Definition and identification of confined spaces
- Identification and control of hazards
- Associated Australian Standards and relevant legislation
- Roles and responsibilities of management and employees
- Case studies
- Risk assessments and hierarchy of control measures
- Contaminants, atmospheric monitoring and gas detection
- Ventilation
- Rescue plans and equipment
- PPE including harness selection, inspection and use
- Communication methods
- Roles and responsibilities
- Work according to a confined space permit
- Lockout and tag out methods of isolation
- Atmospheric monitoring and gas detection
- Practical entry and exit procedures
The skills and knowledge that you obtain during the Confined Space Training course is suitable for working in confined spaces across a wide range of industries including the Resources Sector, Quarrying, Drilling, Agriculture, Councils/Government, Defence, Manufacturing, Heavy Industry and Civil Construction industries.
Course Delivery Options
Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer assessors who have industry currency, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.

Accreditation
To complete the course, students must successfully complete all assessments which are aligned with the national unit of competency.
All assessments are completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will receive a new nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency:
- RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in confined Spaces

Course Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this refresher course, please provide one of the following items to evidence your previous confined space accreditation completed in the last three (3) years:
- Statement of Attainment
- USI transcript
- Wallet card
- Employer transcript identifying accredited training
Please email your evidence to info@worksafeconnect.com as soon as possible and at least 2 BUSINESS DAYS prior to the course commencement. Attendance to the course may be rejected if the evidence is not received on time.
