Suspect Item Assessment training provides a comprehensive operational framework in the assessment of an item as to whether it is suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED), or not.The Queensland Police Service principle of Person Object Place (POP) is used as part of the assessment within this program which focuses on key areas including:
Procedures - Ensure dedicated procedures are in place to manage the location of a suspicious item
Training - Undertake training to conduct an assessment of a located item
Assistance - Have on hand and use the suspect item assessment tool
Safety - Follow response safety precautions appropriate to the situation and seek assistance
Participants will receive a statement of completion and are encouraged to participate in a range of assessment activities including but not limited to:
