Our Fire & Emergency Combo Training is a flexible, all-in-one 1-day program that combines Fire Extinguisher & Small Emergencies, Fire Warden, and Chief Warden training into a single, streamlined course.

Designed to suit the needs of both large and small teams, this course equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills to respond to workplace emergencies, operate firefighting equipment, and take leadership during an evacuation.

Training covers:

  • Fire Extinguisher & Small Emergencies Training – Use of fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire blankets, emergency preparedness and spill kits
  • Fire Warden Training – Emergency response, evacuation procedures and warden responsibilities
  • Chief Warden Training – Leading the emergency response, coordinating wardens, and liaising with emergency services

This is a 'client-only' course - it's fully flexible, allowing you to tailor delivery to your team’s needs—for example, starting with Fire Extinguisher & Small Emergencies training for 14 participants, with 5 continuing for Warden training and 2 staying on to complete Chief Warden.

Course Details

This combined course provides participants with the knowledge and hands-on experience to confidently respond to workplace emergencies and take on key roles within their organisation’s emergency structure.

Topics covered include:

  • Emergency preparedness, response, and post-incident actions
  • Roles and responsibilities of Wardens and Chief/Deputy Chief Wardens within the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) and Emergency Planning Committee (EPC)
  • Pre-emergency planning, communication, and coordination
  • Use of first attack firefighting equipment (fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets)
  • Workplace evacuation procedures and emergency communication protocols

Practical activities are delivered in both simulated and controlled real-life scenarios, and include:

  • Extinguishing a Class B fire using a fire extinguisher
  • Using a fire blanket and fire hose reel
  • Conducting a facility audit and reviewing an emergency plan
  • Participating in a live evacuation and preparing a post-evacuation report
  • Maintaining an ECO register and leading an evolving emergency scenario to practise leadership and decision-making under pressure

This course is aligned with workplace health and safety legislation and Australian Standard AS 3745-2010, equipping participants with the essential capabilities to manage emergencies, support compliance, and strengthen workplace resilience.

This course is ideal for workplaces looking to train personnel in a variety of emergency response roles—whether for general fire response, warden duties, or senior leadership during an emergency.

It is suitable for:

  • Workers nominated as Fire Wardens or Chief/Deputy Chief Wardens
  • Staff responsible for using first attack firefighting equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets)

The Fire Combo format is also well suited to businesses that want to train different team members in different levels of emergency response, all in a single, efficient session.

Training is delivered face-to-face by experienced, qualified trainers as a client-only course—offered exclusively to group bookings at your workplace or nominated site.

This course is not available as a public session.

We offer flexible scheduling and can adjust the session to meet your operational requirements—please contact our team to discuss what works best for you.

There are no pre-course or post-course requirements. All assessment activities are completed during the training session.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for one or more of the following units of competency, depending on the components they complete:

  • CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
  • PUAFER008 – Confine small emergencies in a facility
  • PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation

Certificate delivery:

  • Courses at our facilities: Certificates are issued on the day, with digital copies emailed to participants and employers (if applicable) the following business day.
  • Courses at client sites: Certificates are issued within 7 business days, with digital copies emailed to participants and employers.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, participants must be physically capable of completing practical activities, including:

  • Lifting and operating a fire extinguisher (up to 5kg)
  • Participating in a live evacuation exercise
