Site Supervisor (S123 / G189 & G2)

About the Course

Site Safety Supervisor / Site Safety & Health Representative - Face-to-Face

  • Also known as S123 / S1 S2 S3 / G189 / G1 G8 G9 / QMS / MSSS
  • Bonus – Includes G2 (within the 2-day program)
  • Supervisor and G2 combined course

WorkSafe Connect’s Site Supervisor course (2-days x 4-competencies) is a trainer-supported program that is delivered either face-to-face or online (via Zoom in an electronic classroom). It is an interactive and activity-based program, using real-world scenarios, that provides students practical knowledge and skills relating to risk management, effective communication and incident investigations.

The 2-day program is structured as follows:

  • Module 1: Risk Management (S1 / G1 and G2)
  • Module 2: Incident Investigations (S2 / G8)
  • Module 3: Effective Communication (S3 / G9)

There are no course entry requirements, no pre-course study and no post-course evidence to provide.

With the support of our expert trainers who have supervisory experience within relevant industries, students who successfully complete the 2-day program will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following 4 units of competency:

  • RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1 / G1)
  • RIIWHS301E Conduct Safety and Health Investigation (S2 / G8)
  • RIICOM301E – Communicate Information (S3 / G9)
  • RIIRIS402E – Carry out the Risk Management Process (G2)

Under Queensland Legislation, Site Supervisors and Site Safety Health Representatives (SSHR) are statutory positions. The Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee has deemed it a requirement to hold 3 units of competency (S123 / G189) for these roles.

WorkSafe Connect’s 2-day program also includes G2 (RIIRIS402E Carry out the Risk Management Process) - based on industry consultation and student feedback, we believe the inclusion of the G2 elements of consultation, facilitation & auditing practices enhances and completes the risk management process.

The G2 unit of competency is included in the first ‘Risk Management’ module – this is a ‘bonus’ and does not extend the course duration or cost.

WorkSafe Connect has been delivering mining safety programs for over 15 years and is one of Queensland’s leading suppliers of the Site Supervisor programs. We look forward to supporting our students to achieve their accreditation.

Who Should Attend

This course gives all supervisors (no matter the industry) the core skills required to lead their teams and ensure a safe work environment – covering essential legislative requirements, risk management processes, effective communication and incident investigation techniques.

It is relevant to all industries – including coal mining, metalliferous mining, quarrying, manufacturing, construction and general industry.

For those in Queensland in the mining industry who are appointed to the role of either a supervisor or health and safety representative, it is a legislative requirement that they hold the S123 / G189 units of competency as required by the Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee.

For those who are refreshing their accreditation (which is required every 5 years) – see our 1-day S123 / G189 Refresher program – click here.
